Question 4k 28" monitor v 4k 40" tv

Hi guys , currently looking at a new setup as I am soon to be moving house . It' purely for my Xbox one x and nothing else . It' either a Samsung U28H750UQU with a pc style setup with keyboard for chat and a gaming chair or a
SAMSUNG UE40MU6400U 40" as just a typical console setup .

The smaller monitor has freesync and seems to be a really nice panel other than the size . The tv is obviously a lower end panel but has the bigger size which would you go for ?

Would you just go for the better quality picture and freesync on the smaller screen or go for the 40" tv , cant decide atall :s thanks

It remains to be seen if MS will ever enable Freesync, they have not said a word about it and the only signs of life were at CES2018 were Samsung was demoing Gears of War 4 but only with HDMI VRR which is not supported on PC monitors and only on select 2018 Samsung TV's.

So be prepared that if you go down the monitor route Freesync may never happen.

There are 32" 4K monitors you can get which could bridge the gap, hardware info has a bunch of recommended models some of which can fall in your price range, they also mention if it supports freesync and what type of panel it is.

The LG32UD59-B may be in just your price range at 499, it also features HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2 ports and support for Freesync over HDMI but the range is limited to 40-60Hz. It is a VA panel which is unusual for LG, VA gets better black levels but at a cost of more narrow viewing angles. Also if the monitor is to be used with a PC & console, LG monitors are a lot better than most at quickly switching inputs, most PC monitors are terribly cumbersome in this area.
