Xbox One X connection to a Sony STR DN1080 AV receiver.
Please forgive my stupidity but I'm new to this!I'm running my Xbox One X via HDMI to my Samsung 49UEKS8000 TV. I've bought the Sony STR DN1080 AV receiver and I thought that connecting it would be a simple matter of running a HDMI lead from the HDMI 'out' port on the rear of the Xbox one X to the 'Game' input on the receiver. I now know there's no HDMI out port on the games console so I'm lost now! It seemed so easy! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The receiver is connected to the TV via the ARC HDMI port (HDMI 4). Not sure if this has any relevance. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by theres no HDMI out port on the games console.
Xbox has two HDMI ports one an output and the other an input,
* connect the Xbox HDMI output to the DN1080 HDMI game input.
* connect the DN1080 TV Out A output to the TV.
* you need HDMI 2.0 cables for all of the above, old HDMI cables will not do.
Next you need to enable 4K output on the DN1080, according to the manual this is done via,
Press Home->Setup->HDMI Settings->HDMI Signal Format and change it from standard to enhanced.
On the Samsung TV "HDMI UHD Color" must be enabled from the picture settings menu. If all goes well Xbox should get the full 4K/HDR output and able to pass audio to the sound system.
Setting up ARC is separate and limits you to Dolby 5.1 audio on Samsung TV's. Thanks for that, now sorted. I must be going senile!
