Question KODI on Xbox
My son's kodi box died but he has an Xbox One S so I downloaded the kodi app and it looks OK. However I can't seem to use SMB to search for my NAS.I am running Freenas on an HP proliant microserver if that helps. Kodi on Xbox is very limited compared to 'normal' kodi. Can only do NFS, can you enable that on your NAS? I thought I had enabled NFS on my nas but kodi still can't find it.
I have a spare fire stick so might use that instead. Can you install 'video add-ons' on Xbox Kodi like you can do on other versions? If so, how would you go about installing the necessary .zip file in the xbox?
Cheers Sorry, I'm not sure. I stopped using Kodi entirely at the back-end of last year. You can only use NFS or UPnP/DLNA. SMB support it still being worked on.
If your NAS has a DLNA media server you will find it under the UPnP section of Kodi.
What make NAS is it, I can tell you if it supports it and how to enable it if you want.
As to the Firestick if you don't want the hassle of side loading Kodi, there is MrMC in the FireTV app store it is an Amazon app store approved fork of Kodi. Thanks. Can you somehow import & store a user file (.zip) on the local hard disk of the xbox? if not then I guess I would need to point Kodi to an online repository where the .zip file is stored. Can anyone recommend an online repository where I can upload my .zip file just so that I can point Kodi to it & install my add-on? Obviously I won't need the online repository anymore once the add-on is installed cheers. So last night I had another go and after updating kodi to 18.1 I can connect to my NAS using NFS and entering an IP address. Streaming looked OK from what little testing before the Xbox was needed for fortnight.
