Question Xbox one vs Xbox one X

Howdie.

My wife recently got me an Xbox one X, my son has an Xbox one CoD AW edition.

Yesterday we were playing Destiny 2 together and we noticed that my son's Xbox one was consistently loading him into levels about 15seconds faster than my Xbox one X is loading me in.
We are both using an Ethernet cable, his is cat6 while mine is cat7. Both consoles are plugged into the same ethernet switch which is then plugged into the router.
To try and speed it up on my console I plugged my X into the router directly while my son's stayed in the Switch but it made no difference.

Has anyone got any idea why my son is consistently loaded in before I am?

Does it have something to do with the X having to load more asserts or something similar?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,
Martin.

Are you both using disc or digital versions?

Have you both got them installed in the same locations (internal vs external)?

Have you tried switching Ethernet cables to see if that makes a difference?

Hello Steve. Thanks for taking the time to help.

We are both using digital versions, console sharing to be exact. The original license is on my console...

We both have them installed on our internal storage.

I haven't tried each other's cables as mine is only 2 metres long where as his is 20 metres long. That's a big difference in length and yet his still loads faster than mine.

It's very strange as I read that the X would make load times faster but I'm not seeing that at all.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer,
Martin.

Maybe swap the physical consoles over?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, weve all been ill with the sickness bug thats going around- not the best way to spend a week or so let me tell you!

Indeed we are playing a multiplayer game, Destiny 2 to be precise.
I even tried updating my Ethernet cable to a brand new cat7 Ethernet cable with extra shielding vs the older cat7 I did have (my son's is cat6, might be a cat6b but I'm not 100% sure on that) and it's still loading him in before me.
I've tried it when I'm host. We have even tried it with my son streaming music from Spotify at the same time and he still loads in well before I do.
It's a real head scratcher as all the sites I've looked at have said that the X should load far faster than the other model xbox's, most games are supposed to load twice as fast.

the 50% faster claim I assume is in a like for like scenario.

I do not know destiny 2 but if it has had an X patch then its possible it is using better textures or at least using the increased memory allocation and filling this extra space will take longer even if the hdd itself is faster simply because it has to read more data.

I would download and test a game that is not X enhanced to check that you see the expected performance difference.

Destiny 2 has recently been patched and I believe runs at native 4K on the X vs. 1080p dynamic scaling on the base Xbox One.

I'd' assume the delay may be normal. You could always try another mp/co-op game, one that has not been X Enhanced and test that to see if there's any signs of a similar issue.

Is he hosting the lobby? To be honest it's common on Destiny this, I always put it down to who is hosting, if he is hosting the game (you joined his game) it would make sense for him to load in first. Not sure 15 seconds sounds right though.

When me and some friends have a 3 man foreteam and do some strikes there is always seems to be one person other than the fireteam leader, that spawns in late.
