Another wireless tip that seems to have worked for me:

I used to be able to wireless stream 720p from my PC to the PS3 without any problems, but a couple of months ago I started getting DNLA errors and freezing/stuttering video. I blamed it on Microsoft/Sony since the problem seemed to start after a Windows update or Sony firmware revision.

The other night I decided to try and get to the root of the problem. I've noticed on my laptop that there are several wireless access points that show up as maximum signal strengths (I'm assuming my neighbours have gone wireless), so I thought it might be worth changing the wireless channel. I spent the evening switching to different channels and using speedtest.net on the PS3 to test the connections. Anyway, I found that by changing the channel I could get significantly better download speeds.

After doing this video playback seems to be working again data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Ideally I would go wired but until I can lay some cable down this is not an option and we don't have enough spare sockets for homeplugs.

So for anyone else having problems, try changing the wireless channel as you may be on the same one as another network nearby and I'm guessing this could cause network problems.

have you seen these, they dont take up a socket, they are brilliant!!, i got one for my tv setup in the living room due to all the gadgets connected to it lol, no way will i be going back to wireless i think there are to many on my estate now, when the ps3 was released i could stream wireless no problem but i think there was only one wireless network in my estate, now theres about 8 i think, tried all the differenct channels but still no luck, hope this helps you with your lack of sockets issue!!

I set my 802.11 Mode to "802.11b only" from "Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11b"
and it seems to work. I'm able to stream my HD videos on my PS3. Both my PS3 and Media server Laptop are connected via D-link DIr-615 router.

Thanks, planetmatt !!!Worked for me like a charm exactly as you described it.

I tried every possible fix possibly suggested and the ONLY solution for me was a wired Homeplug kit from Netgear (or any other similar device supposedly from Linksys, Belkin, etc.)

I now have a rock solid and fast connection that accomodates HD audio and video with aplomb.Testing my Internet connection with my PS3, it measured 9.1 Mbps dowload bandwidth, which allows me to easily play high def MLKVs without interruption.

I'm now almost convinced that it's soemthing to do with a faulty PS3 firmware.I believe the latest FW v3.21 is causing this since I don't recall having this issue (at least not this often) prior to upgrading.

Hope this helps the one who tried everything before finding this out myself.

Cheers!

Don't know if it still has any use to post it but since this is the first website I got from the search engine I wanted to post it anyway. This solution (so far) worked for me.

I also got the DLNA 2104 error while trying to look at photos from the computer (windows xp x64 version and with program ps3 media server). Then I checked my windows event viewer to see if I saw any problems there. And I did get an error at the same time as the DLNA error.

What I was on the modem to set the PS3 to have always the same IP adress even on DHCP. But maybe setting a static IP on the PS3 will work too (it was a tip from a different website). And I solved the event viewer error with
Event 10016 may be logged in the System log on a computer that is running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

The pictures load a little faster and so far no errors yet. But have only tested it for a short while.

Hope it helps.

Edit: Did have an error on the ps3 again but did take a while longer before it came again and still feels faster loading.

Can't believe I'm posting in this old thread, but a switch to fibre broadband and a new router (the poor PlusNet Technicolour TG582n) and the old DLNA Protocol 2104 error has raised it's head again.

Port forwarding in the Technicolour TG582n has not worked, in fact it prevented the PS3 from connecting to PSN at all.

Maybe the solution is to switch the wireless network from mixed mode to just wireless g, or use a homeplug.

But after all these years, and firmware updates to the PS3, you would have thought Sony would have fixed the issue with the PS3.

Just an update (just in case I or anyone hits on this again in years to come)

I went back to my 54G Netgear DG834G, and the PS3 was immediately more stable streaming over WiFi. There was single instance of DLNA error 2104 but that was it. Unlike the Technicolour router where there were 2104 and 7531 errors every 60 seconds or so.

So this is what I have done to the Technicolour TG582n and it is more stable. Only the occasional 2104 and yesterday 2105 (?)

install inSIDDer (wifi network listing tool) on a laptop, scan for any wireless networks on the same channel as yours. The PlusNet Technicolour was on Channel 6, as was someone else's wifi nearby. I decided I'd change my wifi to use Channel 9 that was free.On the TG582n - Turn OFF Auto Channel selection, manually select the free channel that you spotted with inSIDDer. Apply the settings.Using Telnet, connect to the TG582n router and login to reach the command line interface. Turn OFF wireless n.See here: Telnet Commands for a Thomson Router for a list of router commands.

wireless ifconfig interop=802.11b/g
saveallI have left uPNP ON on the router, but it remains OFF on the PS3 itself.PS3 as a fixed IP, and uses PlusNet DNS for primary, and Google DNS for secondary.I do not have any ports forwarded to the PS3With the router operating in Wireless G mode and being on a Channel with very little overlap with other wifi networks, the PS3's DLNA connection is a lot more stable. I might get the occasional 2104, but not as many as before.

I think the DLNA 2104 error is a speed/timeout issue - not helped by the fact that the PS3 does not cope very well with overlapping wifi networks or multi-band wifi routers.

The best solution is wired Ethernet or a homeplug. I tried a homeplug from another area of the house, and there were no DLNA errors at all.

Hope this helps.

Unbelievable, that just did the trick for me.

Thanks a lot for the hint!
