My Ps4 Pro has a Worse Image in 4K than 1080p really unhappy
I really don't know what's wrong but I tried resident evil 7 demo , Uncharted 4 with pro patch , The last of us in 4k 30fps setting and all them display a softer picture on my Sony 49 x8505B tv , its as if the detail is smudged in 4k mode compared to 1080p ? My tv is set to 4k Yuv 420 mode and doesn't support RGB or HDR even though its only 2 years old ?Somethings wrong ? I'm thinking it maybe due to the fact the Sony tv upscaling chip upscales the picture better than the checkerboard 4k in ps4 pro , when the ps4 pro is set to 1080p the tv handles the 1080 to 4k upscaling .. But surely the can't be right ? Sounds a strange one. HDR is pretty new so a lot of TV's still don't support it.
When you say your TV is set to 4K YUV420 mode, do you actually mean in the PS4 Pro settings? Have a check to see what information is displayed on the 'video output information' section of the PS4 Pro Video/Audio settings whilst a game that has the issue is running, post them or a picture up here if you can. Also post a picture of the issue if you can. Also maybe list the picture settings you are using on your TV.
Are you using the HDMI cable that came with the PS4 Pro? Are you going via an A/V Receiver? What makes you think it's the PS4 Pro, and not your TV at fault? From your description, it sounds like the TV doesn't accept native 4k very well.its 2 1/2 year old model, one of the very early 4K sets. Still shouldn't look worse than 1080p though. Yes it set automatically to yuv420 , and shows as 4k resolution in the TV info settings? The image just looks smoother and less detailed ? have you switched on Enhance mode, maybe you haven't switched it on yet. My tv Model is a Sony kdl49x8505b and its about 2 yrs old also it doesn't have android , I don't know if it has the enhanced setting for hdmi ? Where would I find it it ? Thanks I'm not really familiar with Sony TVs but I do I know the latest ones have an enhance mode, did your TV come with a instruction manual sorry I can't help you any further bro because on the Samsung model you have to go to settings and switch on uhd colour on to enable HDR Any danger of Googling your TV model and "4k" "Update" "Firmware" and the likes? You might need to do an update... Maybe check the manual as mentioned above too.
Seems a very odd issue for a 2 year old 4k TV. Have you got all other image processing options off? Are you in game mode?
