Anybody tried using the IR2BT with firmware 2.40, over on the IR2BT forums they saying this firmware updates a broke some of the IR2BT functionality

CH_Peter Publish time 27-11-2019 01:15:12

Someone should confirm asap, but I would think this is now broken, as the PS button now has to be held down to get the power off menu up, as tapping it brings up the XMB.

The above is now a confirmed problem. Order taking postponed. Existing users stuck for now. More info here:-

Now back in stock, I have just placed an order. Problem has been fixed with the 2.40 FW for new units. Older units will have to be returned to base

I posted this on the IR2BT forums but I thought I'd post it here too. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

In firmware 2.50, the following change was made:

It's now possible to select this to turn off after an hour of inactivity. No more power-off sequence is needed (the only real issue with IR2BT)!

Simply change your Harmony power-off settings to leave the device on when you change activity or press standby, and let the PS3 do the rest for you -- this way you're guaranteed that the PS3 will turn off, and the power-off sequence won't fail... //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/clap.gif

On your PS3, go to: Settings > Power Save Settings > System Auto-Off

Make sure you tick "Turn Off System Automatically Even Under Special Conditions"

That will turn the PS3 off even if you're in a game or watching a movie. It's probably better to increase the timer to 2-hours if you don't intend to touch the controller when watching a movie, although I haven't tested this out yet so I'm un-sure how it works -- I imagine it turns off regardless of what you're doing if you tick the above box. You may find it easier to leave the box un-ticked and remember to quit back to the main XMB after you've finished playing a game or watching a movie to avoid confusion.

This suits me far better than a discrete power-off, since I like to switch between activities on my Harmony and it annoyed me that it always turned the PS3 off even if I was just checking the TV for a couple of seconds. I appreiate that this solution isn't perfect for everyone, but I imagine that the majority of people will much prefer this solution compared to a power-off sequence.

Make sure you set up to put your PS3 to some use whilst it's idling. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I bought 2 IR2BT's originally (one for my bedroom and one for the living room), but my step-dad isn't all that keen on it and it's a waste when someone may really want one.

I'd be willing to sell mine if the price is right... Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll post a classified thread with all the information in. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
