Help! My Playstation 4 Pro Hates all my Samsung Gear!
This has been driving me CRAZY, please help if you can.I have :
A Samsung UE55JS8500 Curved TV.
A Samung HTH7500W Reciever
A Sky Setop Box
An Xbox One
A Playstation 4 Pro
All connected with HDMI 2cables.
All use ARC and the One Connecct box and for everything apart from the Playstation 4 Pro it works just fine.
However Problem #1:
I cannot get surround to work from the PS4 Pro to no matter what I do. I've tried:
PCM/DTS/Dolby over HDMI all I get is Left/Right and Centre with no Rear Speakers.
Dolby/DTS via Optical to Reciever get the same as the above (I think it still sends it over HDMI on the PS4 no matter what you do).
The only time it works correctly is if I connect the HDMI from the PS4 into the HDMI IN on the receiver but then it limits my resolution to 1080P and no HDR (which kind of removes a lot of the benefit of having a PS4 Pro).
Problem #2:
I cannot get HDR to work on the PS4 and I KNOW HDR does work because I use it via the Amazon App and it works fine.
As soon as I enable HDR on the HDMI Source for the PS4 Pro I get no signal at all from the PS4 Pro. As soon as I turn HDR off, everything is fine again. I've tried multiple source ports and lots of other messing around, disconnecting wires, powering on and off etc. The PS4 says everything is HDCP 2.2 complaint but that HDR is off.
Please let me know if there is anyway to get my PS4 Pro working at 4k Res with HDR and Surround Sound. I would have thought in 2017 this should not be that hard but it seems really difficult! OK fixed the HDR issue, it turned out to be a problem cable. Sound issue persists. Sound should be output LPCM. What your receiver then decides to do with that is another question. Have you tried every connection possibility?
1. Ps4 hdmi direct to receiver.
2. Ps4 optical direct go receiver.
3. Ps4 hdmi to connect box hdmi arc to receiver.
4. Ps4 hdmi to connect box optical to receiver.
5. Ps4 optical to connect box hdmi arc to receiver.
Are you changing the primary audio output option on ps4? i will assume your amp doesn't do 4k pass through due to only 1080p out from amp. so you need to connect hdmi straight into the 4k tv to get 4k hdr. you then need to connect optical from ps4 (not tv) to amp for sound and select primary output port "digital out optical" . the only last thing you can change is audio format priority linear pcm to bitstream but not sure you need o do that
