PS4 PRO YUV OR RGB?
I am hoping an AV guru can step in and give the correct info. There is alot of arguments on which video setting is best for a PS4 Pro running 4k HDR. My TV is a LG 4k hdr (dolby vision/10bit) and its connected to the ps4 pro via HDMI 2.1If I'm not mistaken, RGB is the best quality because its uncompressed. Some people are saying it defaults to YUV 422. I dont understand chroma subsampling, but I'm willing to learn. And I think the people that are using YUV are the ones that had TVs with HDMI 2.0 not 2.1 if I'm not mistaken this bandwidth limitation would either give them less color spectrum or less resolution(YUV?). So for me, having HDMI 2.1, a 10bit hdr tv, and a ps4 pro, which option is truly the best for quality? Thank you for your time! Welcome to the forums, someone will be here in a few minutes or so to advise (hopefully) Thank you! hdmi 2.1 is not available on any TV right now; nor is the ps4 pro 2.1
there is a lot of marketing for TV's at the moment stating 2.1 but it's not. they are just allowed to say this as some of the features associated with 2.1 can be carried on 2.0b. You are correct. Its 2.0b. My DTV 4k channels have HLG HDR so it has to be 2.0b. Any help on the settings? Im not an expert with chroma subsampling but both pc and ps4 are set to 422. I get full 4k hdr at 60hz Use Auto.
That way it will use YUV for HDR and RGB for SDR content.
Trust me, don't get to hung up on which is better, its a complete mine field.
