PS3 and PS4 sound
I'm looking to connect both my PS3 and PS4 to my AV receiver (Marantz SR6013).Question is which is the best method to get the best surround sound? I'm setting up my system as a 5.1.4 Atmos. Am I correct in saying I need the consoles to output audio in Bitsream and not LPCM to get the True HD output?
With the PS3 I understand it can output bitstream but unsure if thats just through the optical output and not the HDMI? anyone know?
Same question as aobive for the PS4. I have my ps3 and ps4 connected via HDMI with LPCM audio as that gives uncompressed audio. Sorry to bud in like this but I have a similar issue. Can any of you folks help with this? Im about to get a PS4 slim, but thanks to sony as always the slim do not have an optical port, base PS4 doesthough. Cant I just connect the surround sound via optical trough the media box on the pioneer KRP500 and get surround that way? Ended up using HDMI and sending Bitstream through it, i want the AVR to to the audio decoding bit not the playstations.
Geese, tried using the hdmi to the poineer?
