Lots online say it's easy and it's always baffled me. I can get past the first few stages and then that's it.

Some of these old games are ridiculously tough. Battle toads on snes makes my head explode. Used up all continues just on stage 1 lol.

I'm sure there's some guides on Youtube, I remember watching a guy complete Final Fight using only 1 life!!! He had an odd technique whereas most people just go on instinct, like most games there's a real art and formulae to it.

This thread is bad for my health, I just cannot justify spending around £40on a system when I've been made redundant and already have a Coinops on my 1st gen Xbox which I do not play at all!

What's more I discovered that the Mayflash adapters work on the Pi so you can just plug in your old N64, snes etc controllers to play these emulated games which always has been a massive bug bear for me. Knowing me I'll end up spending close to £100 plus on a fully kitted out system/controllers and then just never touch it

Good stuff. Hope you enjoy it. Im loving the retro sessions at the moment.

addyb Publish time 26-11-2019 22:44:17

Well I've set up the achievements which was easy enough. Just go to the retroarch config file and enter these lines at the bottom (after signing up on retroachievements.org)

cheevos_username = "yourusername"
cheevos_password = "yourpassword"
cheevos_enable = true

Problem is now all my snes games give a message on boot saying achievements aren't available for this game even when they are listed on the website. Maybe I need to use a particular snes emu for them to work. I've asked the question anyway.

Time for some streets of rage remake again. Maybe make a start on Super Metroid as it has been a long time since I played that.

addyb Publish time 26-11-2019 22:44:19

Bloody stuck on super Metroid.Can't remember what to do from the point I'm at. Anyway moving on its time for some turtle power.

TMNT: Turtles in time on the snes.

Oh and the achievements are now working.Didn't change anything. There must of just been a delay between me registering and them being activated in the games.

Also tried N64 and I'm afraid to say it struggles with the few I tried. Apparently the only way round it is to overclock and do some other tweaks. Something I'm not going to do.
Might be a deal breaker for some but personally I only bought this for mame, 16 and 8 bit games.

Mine came yesterday with the SNES controllers.
But I can't seem to control the games in the emulators but worse than that I can't exit out without pulling the power !
It says press select start but that doesn't respond.
Any advice?
