Clearly you do need YouTube then to jog your memory data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Not really because as soon as I see the titles I will know what the vast majority of them are. I used to play a lot of games as a kid!

Plz'd you posted this as I'd have lost ages looking for a on/off solution, still its strange that the only way to power on is remove/reinstate the power lead.
So I just bought a :- Micro USB Inline On/Off Power Switch for Raspberry Pi (All Models).

I haven't powered on my Retorpie for almost a year. After finding this thread I'm tempted to give it another go.
I never got my PS3 controller working over bluetooth so always used it wired but think I might pickup some SNES controllers or an arcade stick.

Think I'm running an old v3 so need to update to v4. If i remember rightly it was a bit of a pain with the Mame stuff but consoles not too bad to get working but if I remember correctly I just found it too much of a hassle with some things working and other not. Guess I should just go through and test 10,000games and delete the ones that don't work data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Anyone thought of a cabinet for it - I'd love an arcade cabinet with the Pi in it - wouldn't want to build one (apart from flat pack) and I bet they're expensive to buy!

oldman100 Publish time 26-11-2019 22:44:46

I got mine delivered yesterday, I've had a little play around with the MAME stuff but as I suspected I'm already shattering my memories of playing some of the games back in the 70's & 80's as many haven't stood the test of time.
I think there's 30,000 plus ROM's on mine so it'll take me an eternity to dig through but some of the classics haven't aged so badly.

Lancia34 Publish time 26-11-2019 22:44:46

Keep digging though as there are some great classics. From what I remember the console games seemed to hold up better, especially the NES which has all the classic arcade games (Donkey Kong etc...) and SNES and Megadrive games are always good.

I might try and fire mine up at the weekend and go through them - stick to the usual beat em ups, shoot em ups and platformers.

Btw - isn't there a scraping system in Retropie to get screenshots and menus for each of the games?

Lancia34 Publish time 26-11-2019 22:44:46

Did the Retropie 4 update and scraped everything I had last night., Such an easy process and the scraping was reasonably successful although a bit hit and miss on MAME.

Now need to go through and find the classics data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Still couldn't get the PS3 controller to work via Bluetooth although it worked once and then not again so using wired. What's the best SNES style controllers?
I have had these on my Amazon list for ages (not wireless though):

What's this Scape malarkey you keep referring to data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'm loving the Super Bomberman series on the SNES, Robocop, Mercs, Mr Do on MAME, really enjoying finding some classics now data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The Micro USB Inline On/Off Power switch was also a sensible purchase.

Those are the SNES controllers that I have, no complaints with them, feel responsive enough.

Scraper downloads cover art and descriptions for the games (most fo them anyway).

There's one in the GUI but I couldn't get ti working so just ran it from the setup menu:

Scraper · RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup Wiki · GitHub

Do you have a link to the ON/Off power switch? Mine is currently plugged into the mains but can;t remember if it's just a USB plug adapter or not but if it is I presume the switch will just plug into that?

Is it this?

Also need to find a good arcade stick data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Can't decide whether to pick one of these up or to buy an n64.
I already have an arcade stick I made which I can use so wouldn't need the pads.
Hmm decisions
