Electronic "cigarettes" - anyone tried them?
As a life-long smoker, the idea of something like this is very appealing, but only if they do a reasonable job of reproducing the "joy" of smoking a real cigarette. So, as title, has anyone tried them?

Brian Horses for courses.I smoked for 20years and the only reason i stopped was because i was tired of it, for me no gimmicks worked, patches or anything else - just hardcore cold turkey and changing habits.Instead of finishing dinner sitting back and having a smoke i would wash up - little things like that breaks the habit.
There is unfounded evidence as of yet of the side effects from these electronic substitutes, if you want to stop and it sounds like you do then good luck, it's hard but you can only stop if you want to stop irrespective of gimmicks.. Digging up an old thread here but having just stopped smoking using an e-cig, I cant recommend them enough!! Dont get me wrong, the first day or 2 was tough but the e-cig did satisfy my cravings and from day 3 onwards it was an absolute breeze (im only on day 5 and havent looked back). I have tried kicking my 15 year 20a day habit many times and always failed on the first hurdle so its a major surprise that its been so easy with e-cigs!
Make sure you buy from a specialised site like Liberty Flights. I used Smart Smoker to begin with and found them to be misleading with pretty poor customer services. They only sell 1 product and 2 types of flavours and being forced to buy pre-filled cartridges would have been an expensive option (yeah really!).
I now own a DSE-901 and over 10 flavours! I mainly use a tobacco flavour called 'winston' and find it very satisfying, especially in the mornings and after a meal. I use cherry cola flavour a lot too. Tastes like fizzy cherry cola bottles and leaves a nice citrus tingle on my tongue!
I know that any health benefits are unproven at present but surely they cant be as bad as the real thing. Even after a few days, im coughing up a lot less crap, I dont smell and im saving myself £5 a day so it cant be that bad! Ive read of others feeling less breathless and getting their sense of taste and smell back after a few months so will wait and see how that turns out for me! I've been using Champix. I've been smoking for 30 years 20 a day and have no will power. But like BB3 had just had enough of smoking so thought now is the time, I know quite a few people that had given up on champix so went to the docs to get some.
Cannot believe how easy it has been yeah i get the odd craving last night i even got a ciggie out and had a smell but then just snapped it and threw the rest of the packet out. I'm on day 10 now of no cigarettes and have stopped taking the Champix.
The smell of it now to me smells disgusting and my wife who has never smoked has put up with that for all these years.
But like has been said you have to want to give up. Good luck.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 E lites are quite good, they do give you a bit of a sore throat though. I'm one year and one month into using one. I can honestly say I haven't even wanted a real one in all that time. Once you get the right one with the right liquid you won't look back. If the Government was serious about cutting out smoking these would be available on the NHS.
I use a Tornado from Totally Wicked and it's as near to a real fag as you can get. I use Minty Choc Chip flavour and to me they are a miracle. Nobody loved their fags more than me and I was a 20 a day man for 30 years. No going back for me and I feel ten times better. @indianwells - So do you think you will be on e-cigs for life or do you think you'll eventually cut them out?
Everyone I talk to always asks me that but as I see it, I really enjoyed smoking and im beginning to enjoy e-cigs so if they arent doing that much harm, I will probably find it difficult to cut them out completely. It's the "holy grail" really, isn't it?Keep on smoking and loving it without any of the negatives. In theory - yet to be proven of course. I don't smoke but these helped my friend quit.
I tried a drag out of curiosity. It was like someone pushing a Christmas tree down my throat. Thanks for the replies. Might be time to experiment a bit. )
