Sub-Ohm Remorse

Last week, I decided on a little upgrade, gifted my previous iStick 30w and Kangertech GenieTank to my mother, after getting tired of rubbish batteries littering the house.

Purchased iStick 50w and Kantertech Subtank Nano, initially thought it was great, clouds of vapour great.

However after about a week, not 100% sure I can get on with it.The drip tip is very wide and I am used to mouth to lung vaping (being ex smoker). Also appears to be triggering my asthma more than previous GenieTank was, not sure if this is because of the extra heat.

So.... what to do?Get a 1.2 coil and see how I get on or I am better off getting rid and getting something else?

You could try lowering the nicotine to 3-6mg as your puffing twice the amount sub ohming.Reduce the air flow to a minimum. Also buy another drip tip of smaller diameter.Try one of the new 1.5 coils as they are more tightly packed for a MTL hit.If none of that works i would get an Aspire Nautilus Mini.

I dropped from 1.2 to 6mg when I moved to sub ohm, so doubt that's the issue.

Any clues on where to grab a 1.5 from? Can only find 1.2

Suggestions on drip tip?

Would like to sort it as it's otherwise a nice bit of kit.

You can easily recoil the kanger heads to whatever you like.Have a google around for some videos. The top cap comes off easily if you twist it with an 11mm spanner.Be careful you don't crush either the body or the top cap.
Try 5 wraps of 28g, on a 3mm dia for 1.2-1.6 ish ohms.
To reassemble, gently squeeze the top cap back on.

I''ve recoiled Kanger OCC heads about 20 times and only trashed one body by gripping it too tightly with a mole grip.

I changed the drip tip out on my stm but still found I had issues with harshness and was coughing a lot. I put it down to the cheap juice I was using but since switching to a Lemo at 0.5 ohm I've had none of the issues with the same juice. I'm wondering if it's the stm that's the issue rather than sub ohming itself....

I have switched to the 1.2 ohm that came in the box (didn't realise at first).

Have to say it's better but still not perfect.

I suspect moving to the 1.5 and a narrower drip tip would do the trick for me.Will get one on order.

Quick update, switched to 1.5 and a narrow drip tip, perfect now data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Unfortunately just bought some cola flavour liquid and it's not great (loved the cherry cola).

Cool, glad you got sorted, shame about the cola juice though....

Sorry to high jack the thread but had similar issues.

I really likes the Nautilus Mini and like many I upgraded to the Subtank Mini.
I'm using it for MTL and with a 3mg juice (Craft vapes Foggy Dew) - I got a smaller tip and I'm using the smallest air hole but it still feels harsh.

I'm quite confused about the coils, I understand taht above 1 Ohm is good for MTL and have tried both the 1.2Ohm and the 1.5...

Not sure what to do, currently still using the Nautilus mini...
