Shameful plug...
...Had a chicken curry ready meal for tea tonight and the chicken actually looked like chicken breast. All in all it wasnt bad. Had them before as well and the quality is fairly consistent. Bit mild for my liking but thats the curry type more than anything.
Surprisingly...Heinz weightwatchers chicken tikka.
Mrs F01 just said...Yeah, but not as good as mine (home made)! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

dave do what i do and the next time you cook a curry from scratch cook more than you would normally eat and once cooled freeze it and when u get home just nuke it! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 all i do is use the microwave rice, that way you know what you are eating rather than the mush you described in your op! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Buying fresh and cooking in bulk to freeze then reheat in the microwave is better than any processed stuff.

well, according to the ingredients it does state chicken / lamb are used -
Tesco Tikka And Rogan Josh Meal For 2 1.5 Kilograms - Groceries - Tesco Groceries
tho, it's a bit of a grey area when it only states -
Marinated Chicken (51%)
Marinated Lamb (61%)
but then I seldom eat ready meals - well, in fact hardly ever...tho, I did eat some pepper sauce coated chicken fillets last week if that counts as a ready meal...
but after the horse scandal - people should be re-thinking their eating habits anyway imo...

That's kind of what I meant, cook fresh food one day and then can have it reheated another day of the week data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

If we want a quick curry and dont have much time we buy a jar of Sharwoods Korma sauce and just poach our own chicken\meat in it in a pan. The sauces dont tend to have too much crap in them and at least you know what meat is used
For reasonably authentic Thai use Blue Dragon Red/Green Curry paste, throw in a tin of coconut milk, some star anise and a table spoon of fish oil with your own meat. Quick and easy and tastes far better than a ready meal version.
You can get both the above ready in 12-15 minutes, with some Uncle Bens long grain rice cooking at the same time

...never quite sure what to do with star anise? I've used them whole (you obviously can't eat them). I've extracted the seeds and ground them or I've ground the whole thing to a powder including the husk.
Any advice?

I was glad I saw a program on BBC3 (don't kill me) on MSM years ago, i can't remember the guy who did the documentary but it was great. It was a 3 part series from memory and highlighted some great points about the food industry, the way he couldn't even get to look at the machines spoke volumes imo.
Ever since then I've made sure not to buy anything MSM and cut down on burgervans etc as you just don't know what crap they are selling.Even my 8yr old knows not to get the rubbish hotdogs these days and look for the good ones !
