ACL reconstruction - physio advice
Hi all.I had ACL reconstruction via hamstring graft yesterday with a meniscus repair too.
I had the surgery on Thursday so Saturday morning (now)is start of my second day.
Just wanted to run a few physio questions past you?
My notes say that regaining full extention is the most important. I've been lying flat and extending my knee fully out every few hours yesterday. I slept a little with it fully extended last night but in the end it was only comfy with the leg turned turned to the side.
My question is how often should I be going for full extention? And is it safe to sit with it raised in any other position when not stretching it out.
I've still got the large bandage on it until tomorrow so closing the knee is too painful and difficult at the moment. I can't get anywhere near 90 degrees when sat on a chair, more like 120.
I struggle to do most of the exercises they gave me at the moment except quad tensing and calf stretches. Like flat leg raises and side leg raises
Due to the meniscus I'm partially weight bearing for 6 weeks they say! So also careful I don't overdo it.
I've got my first physio session with them on 27th. So want to ensure I'm doing things right before then. Speak with whoever removes your bandage about rehabbing it, they're the experts. I remove the bandage myself tomorrow, but not due to physio until 27th.
Just wanted to know from any experience what people's movements were like a few days after.
I kinda get the whole speak to expert, no harm in collecting other advise There's every harm in collecting other advise of the internet. I've had 3 of these now, take it steady. You have a lot of knees
