Wrist pedometer
My wife wants a wrist pedometer, I'm a bit lost as to which brands are good.I can see a Garmin one (vivostep) that is probably more than she'd like me to spend.
But below that price range, I'm a bit lost and don't see any brands that are recognisable to me.
I don't want cheap ebay stuff.
Any recommendations? Is it just a step counter you want ? I would be looking at getting her a Fitbit. You have the Flex (£60 on Amazon), Charge (£80 on Amazon) and the Charge HR (£100 on Amazon). Basically the Charge has caller ID and a clock over the Flex. The Charge HR has a continuous Heart Rate monitor over the Charge. A comparison of the features from the Fitbit site (ignore the prices, they are just RRP):

Fitbit are a big player in this market segment. Was going to get one myself but went the smartwatch route. Comes with an app on the phone and connects via Bluetooth. When you are in range of the phone, it will sync the data. I am a Garmin fan, I know plenty of people with Fitbit variants but the seem to over read steps etc. The Garmins last a lot longer on a charge too. I have had a Garmin Vivofit2 since July last year and can't fault it, it's been very accurate for both running and walking, and synchronises with most fitness apps as well as its own app. Syncs in the same way as the Fitbit, but the main difference is it has a permanent battery that eventually dies completely, whereas the Fitbit needs regular charging like a phone. I've been advised to expect at least a year from the Vivofit, and after that I will need to replace the batteries (which are 2x CR1632 batteries, less than £2 each on Amazon).
I can't recommend it highly enough in terms of helping to keep on track with fitness etc. You can set it to whatever number of steps you want to hit each day and it tracks progress, what's outstanding to your goal, calories burned (only an estimate, wouldn't rely heavily on this), distance travelled, as well as the usual time, date and stopwatch functions. Just had to return my Garmin Vivosmart but Garmin are replacing it free with the new Vivosmart HR. The faults were my strap with splitting in several places and the screen had lost some pixels (or whatever they are).
Also, my wife just had to get Fitbit to replace her Charge HR as the strap came unbonded. It seems straps are an issue with fitness trackers.
