Home Gym Help

I am moving into my first home in a few months (well once the solicitors pull their fingers out).

I have an empty garage that I plan to turn into a home gym. My question is, where is the best place to purchase gym equipment that doesn't cost the earth?

Thanks for your help.

I would look in the usual second hand places.
What kind of kit are you looking for? Weights or things like treadmills?

Weights mostly, although a exercise bike would be good.

try gumtree and ebay - and see what's close to you with them not being able to post (most of the time) - also check out for some kettlebells... they're great data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

You really need to decide what you want to be doing first.
I'd suggest some mats fit the floor, dumbbell selection, barbell with weights, maybe a power rack and an adjustable bench and something to do pull ups on..?

Fitness SuperstoreArgosAmazonThese are the best places you can consider. Depending on your budget because the prices on all platforms mentioned above for gym equipments are not same.

if looking at dumbells, dont get adjustable. If you do you will end up replacing them later.Bodymax Rubber Hex Dumbbells are good.Got rid of over 200kg of adjustable weights and handles and bought 1-25kg of fixed rubber dumbbells.Wish I had got them from the start.

powerhousefitness sell a lot of body max items and offer 0% interest. There is no store here in ireland, and instead of ordering online I phone their nottingham branch and always ask for and get a discount.    Probably best buying decent kit at 0% interest and paying it off, than buying lesser quality stuff and then having to upgrade later on which ends up costing even more, the mistake I made.

i got rubber interlocking gym mats, 22mm thickness, from ebay, and was able to cut them so they cover the whole garage.   put down a weather defender at garage door. I did go with a cheap red carpet first, properly fitted, but them got rubber mats

These guys seem good value - never seen their stuff or bought anything from them, but found them when looking for some price comparisons.

that site looks terrible and contact email is a btconnect address. I would stay clear, and the main 2, powerhousefitness and fitnesssuperstore are just as cheap, cheaper if you buy a package or haggle over the phone.

OP, Check this link out in argos

OP, I got a BodymaxCF415 squat and dip rack with spotter catchers, and a seperate power tower. If i could go back I would get a power rack, may be bigger, but would take up less room than the other two together
