Dealing with Epilepsy - need cheering up..

Hi All,

I was wondering if many of you lovely people have had to deal with Epilepsy. I have had an MRI scan recently (which was horrid!) and it showed scarring on my brain. I have had one seizure in the past (mostly due to being massively hung over, no sleep and axious about getting on a plane home feeling so rough).

Now since being told I may have it (pending results of EEG on 6th Oct), I have awful bouts of anxiety about it. I am on a low dose Lamotrigine (just started meds) and it seems ok.

Really looking for advice, your experience with the drugs and how you dealt with it.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this!

Dave

Fortunately, never suffered from it, but just wanted to say I know a few people who do and in one instance,I never knew. Honestly, I would post this in general chat. You will get a much better response and hopefully it may help you.

It can be managed quite well without medication, check out the support forums and Amazon (I believe the book is called Treating Epilepsy Naturally) and it is also worth looking into lavender essential oil as it prevents a seizure if you catch it at the aura stage due to calming the limbic system down. Fish oils with a good EPA : DHA balance (Now brand I believe) are essential too.

The main thing is to keep your mind right as, as you've pointed out, the worse you feel the worse it gets. Focus on the good in life and the rest will take care of itself.
