Currywurst
After missing out on currywurst last week, i need to make this weekend.Anybody have any decent recipes for the sauce?
Thanks. I've made this one once and it was nice:
Homemade Currywurst • The Kitchen Maus Hasn’t @Wahreo got some knowledge of German sausage recipes? IMBW I’ve made that one ^ as well. It’s a pretty good one. I make it with some scotch bonnets chopped very finely and added. A currywurst stand near Checkpoint Charlie had a hot sauce with SBs in so I pinched the idea.
You can make a very quick bodge - tomato ketchup with paprika and curry powder stirred in. It’s a half measure but ok for a quick fix.
Edit: they’ve got the Hela curry ketchup on Amazon. I remember seeing it on sale in Kadewe in Berlin. Never bought it though but might take a punt on a bottle from Amazon to try. Not me, I just enjoy eating themdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
You can buy he sauce in germany and then sprinkle some curry powder on to make it authentic.
Currywurst mit pommes can rarely be recreated properly in the UK because the sausages are never as nice and the chips are deep fried ina special oil. It’s never quite the same. Right, fine. Day trip it is. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Assuming you've not already thought of this, try bratwurst from Lidl or Aldi as a first shot. I used to enjoy them when I lived in Germany - and also on a repeat visit there the other year... much prefer a bratwurst to a bockwurst tho... will check out aldi / lidl when I next pop in.. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Just been to Aldi, no bratwurst data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
But got some foot long dogs, they’ll have to do. Had they run out?
