Pizza Dough - Bread Maker

Typically, when I make Pizza from scratch, I mix all the ingredients by hand, kneed the Dough and leave it to rest prior to ‘constructing’ the Pizza. The whole process is relatively messy.

I’ve tried using my food mixer’s Dough Hooks to make the Dough without success. The process is better accomplished by hand.

Alternatively, I had considered buying a food processor instead for making the Dough. However, I hadn’t previously considered utilising a bread maker instead. I had received an email from Panasonic which lauded the multiple benefits of their latest model.

Besides making Bread, Cake baking is also possible. Then, there’s Pizza Dough. Simply add all the requisite ingredients and it makes and rests the Pizza Dough without getting your hands all ‘gooey’.

Has anyone tried this method?

I always make my dough with the KitchenAid and the dough hook.
I use half the quantities in Jamie Oliver's standard bread recipe from The Naked Chef book to make 4x12" pizza bases.I like thin, crisp bases.

I stick all the dry ingredients in the bowl and start mixing at 1, then pour in luke warm water until the dough combines, then turn it up to 3 and leave it running for about 5 min - I never really time it or have any failures. If I notice it's really bound up on the hook I'll scrape it down and let it go again. Then it gets to prove for 45m or so and divide and stretch/roll.

What goes wrong with yours?
