Perfect In/Out usage meter inc offload to immersion solution?
Have a Sunny Beam generation meter which is great but never know if I'm using more than I'm producing or wasting surplus power. This device shows import export balance live Chorus PV generation and consumption monitoring system | Green Energy OptionsBUT ALSO seems to be able to switch on a socket to draw power to a device if a surplus threshold is exceeded. This I could connect to a storage heater...
Its about £250 so cheaper than those solar immersion surplus divert devices that (may) need a pro installAND its a decent live export/import meter. Also I have a gas combi boiler so sticking day generation surplus into a storage heater for use when we are home in the evening makes sense.
I'll call the manufacturer for info but anyone have any thoughts - looks like a 2 in 1 solution for me? I asked the question about battery storage but this sounds a cheaper alternative. I think the immersion ones are £500. I think you can get the (proportional) immersion dump ones for about £270, but as its all about cost and return if this monitor (and I really want a monitor toy gadget) will also switch on a socket at a pre=determined surplus, and is just plug and play, then it makes a lot of sense if you have no hot water tank.Am I missing anything?! Let me know how the conversation goes mate as I need 2. Doesnt look now as if the smart plug bit is that smart. :-(I'll give them a bell. Manual activation only :-(Dunb plug! Be careful with theimmersion pv systems. They cut the wave form and can add a lot of harnonics noise to system. We have been looking at it and our experts at work not convinced about long term effect to inverter.
