Did you read what I wrote, it only takes another 3.8% not been able to afford to pay it back and the taxpayer loses.

Is it wrong that the Taxpayer pays towards our children's education ?

Currently the Taxpayer pays the grant that "poorer" students get to go to University.

You don't want them to stop giving anyone a grant if they are from a poorer family, but you are concerned they might default on their loan for the fees. You can't have it both ways.

No, I do not think it is. There are many posters on here who have benefited from free education.

I'm not bothered about loss to the taxpayer though, the tax payer would be fronting more cost of there were no fees as a fact?

That's the point the Government happily paid for grants and paid the entire tuition bill. Now they are asking Students to pay for it if they get a good salary.   At the moment it is handing out grants that it will never see a return on. A 45 % repayment rate on a grant loan is a better repayment rate than a grant given out for nothing.

No, if a poorer student has the grades and ability to go to uni they should still be given a grant rather than a loan.

IG, put it another way, how many of the cabinet paid for their education, not many I would guess?

How it was... isn't a valid reason to keep it that way, that's what change is!
