I'm going on facts and keeping opinion out of it. My point which I will reiterate is that seeking asylum in the first coutry of arrival doesn't work.

From camps in Jordon. They were not chancers who had rocked up in Italy in a boat. And that wasn't a "quota", it was just an agreement to take a specific number, completely unrelated to what other countries may or may not have been taking.

Sorry, but you really don't have a clue what you are on about.

Jezza99 Publish time 26-11-2019 02:51:50

Perhaps. But the only solution you have proposed is that other countries should commit to some type of unspecified, but voluntary quota system. Which by definition wouldn't work, because no one is volunteering to take quotas now. Why would they??

I never suggested that at all

Now I know you are trolling.

A quota is a limited or fixed number or amount of people or things, in particular. 20000 is an agreed quota.

Had I done so you could quite easily point it out by quoting me but I guess it's a lot easier to mindlessly call troll and bail out.

Maybe the EU can build a wall.                                                                        https://www.avforums.com/attachments/refugee-march-jpg.892156/

Seems I have to keep bringing out the old classic:
Be nice please. Or I'll close the thread.

@Jezza99

Serious question. Rather than just sticking a funny on my post why don't you explain what's wrong with it? I'm entirely willing to keep this respectful and not get into a slanging match which I've so far tried very much to avoid.

Even if you could just clear up this one specific point regarding the post you funnied. You accused me of proposing that other countries should commit to some type of unspecified, but voluntary quota system. Can you please use the quote function to show where I did so?

You'll find that I never proposed any such thing nor did I make any other suggestions. I merely commented on the situation as it stands and where it doesn't work. I have not at any point offered a personal opinion on the merits of the system or suggested alternatives.
