I don't think Trump is inherently racist but what he does do is pick up support/votes/comments from anyone who will give them, apparently without thinking/caring about the consequences.I don't really believe he has any particularly strong views either way on most things and he simply aims to get support from whoever will give it at that time.Look at all the the bible-bashing tweets he shares.I'd be pretty surprised if he was a devout god-fearing Christian before he decided that it's a good way to maintain the southern-states votes.
I'm not sure if it's good that he doesn't have any particularly strong views/convictions or bad because he never really knows what he wants.
I forgot to add, whilst Trump has one black friend, that friend is also a multiple-account domestic abuser so he's clearly an upstanding member of society and offering a valid defence of Trumps' locker room talk
