Paddy Ashdown dies aged 77 RIP.Former Lib Dem leader Paddy Ashdown dies aged 77 Normally stay away from this section of a weekend, but thought someone would have started a thread on this.
Sad news indeed, he was one of the best politicians we've had. Certainly in my lifetime anyway. Always felt like he genuinely wanted to improve the country. A principled politician, the likes of which we certainly aren't seeing anymore.
RIP.

https://www.avforums.com/attachments/jm-jpg.1099881/ An elder statesman indeed. Paddy Ashdown, a politician I respected and admired. One of the old school; spoke his mind and what he said is what he genuinely believed; did not suffer fools gladly and was very straight.
RIP Paddy. He came out to Bosnia numerous times when I was with UNPROFOR. You can see him at one minute.
RIP. RIP. Great political leader and a life dedicated to military/public service. I believe he was also a MI6 officer while officially a diplomat with the FCO. Was the type of politician I like - someone who had done something in the real world before entering politics. Never realized he was born in India though - thought he was Irish through and through. RIP Paddy, great man. right until the end ...

RIP Paddy.
