That album had to stand or fall against the massive competition of the 1960s era. It fell like a stone unfortunately, never to be heard of again until recently. I believe the 1960s lyrics have now been rewritten to meet 2019 requirements - but I could be mistaken.

You are correct - you are mistaken. Not sure what you mean when you say "the lyrics have now been rewritten to meet 2019 requirements". You are right about one thing though. It was one of the most successful failures of all time.
The follow up album "Arthur: Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire" was also a very patriotic record and dealt with socialism's failure to live up to the post war promises. Both albums offer a little bit of an England that no longer exist.

Not really sure the point you're trying to make here unless it's to validate my earlier point that you rejected??
Your link is an opinion piece (with no polling data/methodology) by "John McGurk was editor of The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday and was managing editor of The Daily Telegraph"
Most Indy folk don't buy any newspapers (save for maybe the National which is owned by the same publisher as the Herald which used to be a tad pro-indy until it launched the National now it's avowedly unionist in it's output)
Social media is their medium of choice, not print
I'm shocked that an ex-editor of avowedly Unionist newspapers is making two simplistic and erroneous points
A) That newspaper sales are thriving (they've been in sharp decline for the past 20 years)
B) That since 90% of the newspapers are London based despite having Scottish editions that this indicates Scotland doesn't want Indy (talk about twisting logic)

No, to invalidate it.
1. Most people don't buy newspapers. Social media is a bigger deal if you are technically savvy. I know a long list of people on no social media at all. I also know a lot of people who don't buy a newspaper, and some who don't buy newspapers, don't bother with social media and yet still have political views. And some who don't care about any of it.
2. Of those who do buy a newspaper, the reason why they do is complicated. It can be they like the horoscope, want something to read, want sports news, have always bought it, it's cheaper than a different one etc.
3. I like how you trust your own link but rubbish another.

So on points 1 & 2 you're now opposing the argument the author was making from your link? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
On point 3, nope, I posted a link and backed it up with my own thoughts, whereas on your link I posted my POV to counter it
Doesn't mean I'm right and you're wrong or vice versa

How will England be better off from a financial standpoint? Is it because you'll be able to cut off loss making Wales from the books?
What about all the other loss making regions of the UK? i.e. every region apart from London and the South East?
Which laws and policies are we talking about here that suit England? Or more importantly, which laws do we have that benefit Wales and Scotland, but have a negative impact on England?
What exactly would you gain from English independence?

England itself doesn't have a deficit, so we could stop subsidising the other nations.
We can increase spending on our own priorities without being forced to send the Scots even more money to match.
No having the Scots block things that we want, such as reformed Sunday trading laws.
If Scots can want independence because they think they'll be better off, why can't I want the same for England?
