I think we can agree you're on your own on this one data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Got no issue with private schools apart from why they have charitable status/tax breaks so I agree with removal of that but appropriation & integration is ridiculous.

Well they are there for the benefit of the public....I have no issue with them getting a tax break. Unless we want to redefine what a charitable case is.

rustybin Publish time 26-11-2019 00:45:10

If they offer a reasonable number of assisted means tested places to poor folk I can understand the charitable status. Otherwise they can fudge off.

Remember parents who send their children to private schools are already paying tax to fund the state system, even though they are not using it. So by giving a tax break it does compensate a little.

Are they? They're paying Tax. You could use that argument for a huge number of things. You could have a childless couple into their 90s - should they get any kind of special dispensation for not using the school system at all for most of their lives?

Bl4ckGryph0n Publish time 26-11-2019 00:45:13

They aren’t paying for it and not getting anything out of it. They aren’t paying for it in the first place.

rustybin Publish time 26-11-2019 00:45:14

You pay for the state education system whether you have zero children or 19.

Bl4ckGryph0n Publish time 26-11-2019 00:45:15

Correct. Every tax payer contributes. However that doesn’t mean every tax payer also pays for independent schools, it is a tax break not a subsidy.

I think you've misunderstood my post.
