The members decide the leader, but only from a shortlist of two. The MPs vote on the candidates if there are more than two, until there are two left. Then the party member vote on those. Last time they were narrowed down to May and Leadsom, but the latter dropped out so no members votes were needed. I would have thought that it might have been fairer to then go back to the next best placed candidate as the second choice (in order to give the members their vote) but apparently that's not the way it's done.
It appears that all candidates must be sitting Tory MPs, so the chances of a tosser being elected are pretty high. That's what I was getting at. MP's had their chance to oust her and didn't. So nowt the members can do for now. I didn't see the members bit in your post properly, so I apologise for not reading this time! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 You can bank that one for later! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
@Philly112 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Keep voting here out until they get the result they want?
