Typically soapboxing about "won't somebody please think of the children" relates to needless handwringing and fussing about comparatively trivial issues. I don't think Brexit fits in that category.

I genuinely think that a bit of short term pain to get things right will help to minimise long term pain. There is value in obtaining input and perspective from across the political spectrum because it helps to prevent political extremes, which throughout history have been shown to be harmful. However that takes time.

Whatever Brexit ends up being, I just want it to do the least harm to the fewest people. To me taking some time to review what is being proposed, rather than just voting it through because of a self-imposed deadline based on political posturing, is part of achieving that.

Article 50 has been invoked, we're close to agreeing a WA...it seems pretty clear to me that Brexit is happening. Lots of people aren't happy about it and many have very valid issues that are worthy of consideration as part of the process, but it's still happening. It may not be happening exactly how people want and as quickly as people want, but that's the nature of something so complex. It was never going to be possible for Leavers to get everything their own way, and the only people who seem continually surprised by that are hardcore Leavers who are still coming to terms with the notion of compromise.

Do you have any evidence of this, or is this just merely your opinion?

Because it seems to me, many "hardcore leavers" are willing to accept Boris' deal, which is in fact a compromise.

Sure, just have a read of this.

So, just your opinion then, thanks.

So we agree that Brexit is happening then. https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/joypixels/[email protected]/png/64/1f44d.png

Nope. Because the Europhiles amongst Westminster have other ideas. https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/joypixels/[email protected]/png/64/1f44d.png

I have no issue with taking time to consider every step, in fact I agree with it.

My issue was with 'think of the children and their children' bit of your post which did read IMO like worried handwringing and seemed unnecessary. I highlighted it because I consider your posts to be of quality and make good reading, and I thought you'd slipped with that comment. Hence my surprise.
