Anyone tried the Samson SR950 studio headphones?

I bought a used Boss ME-25 to use for a bit of late night practice, after wake my wife up a few times using my Blackstar HT20. I’ve been using it with an old and cheap pair of Senheisser HD201 headphones that sound a bit fizzy at higher volumes and want something a bit more neutral sounding.
I’ve also started to do a bit of recoding as the ME25 has a USB interface and comes with Sonar LE which is easy to use.
I want to buy some headphones for both practice and monitoring whilst recording, but don’t want to spendthe price ofAudio Technica M50X’s or even M40X’s or Senheisser HD280 Pros’s, I’ve seen the Samsons for £33 delivered, and they seem to get reasonable reviews.
I’m not bothered if they aren’t bulletproof, as they won’t get the abuse they would in a pro studio, but I want a decent, balances sound without too much colouration etc.
My other concern is that buying cheap may be a false economy, and I’ll eventually end up with one of the industry standards anyway.

Recording magazine gave them a pretty good review (plus some good ones on Amazon) http://www.samsontech.com/site_media/support/downloads/RECORDING_914_Samson_SR850_SR950_Review.pdf

Not tried them myself but just doing a search seems to come up with plenty of positives. £33 is a good price too data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I have Beyer DT770's myself. 8 years old, still going strong after plenty of use, really comfortable and sound amazing. Cost around the £100 mark.

Thanks, I'm torn between cheap and cheerful or some pro standards like your Bayers or the senheissers or audio technica m50x.
At £33 they're almost an impulse buy though.

I've decided to try the Samsons. I'll try and pay a mini review once I've used them.
My only point of reference are my Grade sr60s and my office pair,AKG 451s. Neither work well for guitar.

I bought a pair of Audio Technica M50ATX which were around £ 100.

I think with headphones you get what you pay for. I'll think I'll have these for many, many years. Really like them.

The Samsons are pretty good. Sound pretty neutral and balanced with guitar and recording. I have a big head and they are a bit vice like. But the velour ear cups are comfy and don't make you sweat. Build I'd plasticy but seems decent quality.
Not had a lot of time to use them but first impressions are very positive.
