Trying to date Boosey and Hawkes Tuba...
Hello AV,Whilst digging around the garage I have found this old tuba, no idea how it came to be in the family but it's been with us for as long as I have. Got a bit curious and hit google but the only guide on the serial number that I can find says it's 19th century - from the 1840s I think.
After a bit more digging, I clocked that the markings said Boosey & Hawkes, therefore making the initial dating unlikely, if not impossible, seeing as B&H only merged in 1930.
Does anyone have any idea re dating? Not interested in value per se, unless you're about to tell me I'm sitting on a gold mine, just curious...
Links to photos are below, didn't like me trying to insert them
Thanks,

image2 That is a tenor horn, not a tuba. From what I remember the Lafleur models were the lower range models, and your serial number suggests and early model. Can't help with value or age I'm afraid, but hopefully knowing it's a tenor horn might help direct your research.
