Colour spray done. I think the template worked well enough.
I gave the body a light buffing to get rid of the over spray and help with blending the inner edge.
Here's the back.

Removed the electrical tape and cleaned of the sticky residue with Ronson fluid. A little bit of scraping was needed on the binding.
This is where I'm at.

The binding repair is a good as I can get. Note the offending patch near the bridge that I'm hoping the touch up pens will fix. I can't do any more with the finish until that's dealt with.

looks like a nice colour finish....

out of curiosity when you say you sprayed it what did you use ?

hyperfish Publish time 25-11-2019 21:16:23

Halfords auto paint (taking the cue from the likes of Fender who used car paint back in the day), I will finish with their clear lacquer later.
I would have preferred to use semi transparent nitrocellulose paint but that would been an expensive and long job.

thought that was the case ..

looks good though....plenty of lacquer needed I imagine

reckon you want to come round mine and sort the dent some 'see you next Tuesday' put in my passenger side car door put in with a bike pedal

Amazing job, your mate doesn't realise how lucky he is. Love to see his face when you give him it back

The touch up pens did a decent job. I coloured in the missing bit a few times and then buffed lightly with Meguiars on a cloth. If should be lost under the clear coats and and the eyes will also be distracted by the strings once they are fitted.

The pens.

Masked off the neck and fretboard again, before spraying in the garage.

Spraying is not my forte. Sprayed a bit too much at once this time.

Improvised for some horizontal drying. When its dry I'll hang it for a week then see what's what.
