New to the forum, Bass/guitar advice needed.
HiMy name is Kameron, this is my first post on the forums.
I'm currently studying for my GSCE's, one of them being music. My musical interests include classic rock from the 60' to the 80's and blues music branching from people like Robert Johnson and Son House to people like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy.
Just over a year ago my dad (username Hawklan) posted a thread asking for advice on buying an electric guitar, your responses where very helpful and guided me to the purchase of my Gibson Les Paul Studio
Since then I have started writing my own blues/rock based material, performing at Open mic's and school events. I would like now to start recording my own material.
To start recording my own material I would like to add a bass to my guitar collection. Currently I have the following equipment:
1. Gibson les paul studio (2008 model).
2. Martin custom x series acoustic guitar.
3. Peavey classic 50s amp.
4. fender starcaster strat.
5. cheap nock-off fender strat.
The recording equipment I have recently received for christmas is a Focusrite scarlet 2i2 studio bundle.
Any advice on an affordable but good quality bass guitars and bass amplifiers would be really appreciated. I have been looking at the Epiphone thunderbird classic iv pro and the Epiphone Eb-3. I also know Squire and Ibanez make some good affordable bass guitars.
If you could also share some advice regarding my first attempts at recording, that would be so helpful
Many thanks
Kameron Hi
Kameron ended up getting a Dean Edge 4 bass in black
Edge 4 String w/EMGs - Classic Black | Dean Guitars
It's very well balanced and sounds so much better than the budget bass guitars he tried out (Epiphone Thunderbird, Fender squire, Ibanez and Hofner Ignition)
Now we need to sort out a bass amp
Ron Nice one.A lot more traffic in this thread and plenty of knowledgeable people always happy to help you out...
The Learning ... Equipment thread! Thanks for the advice, I will make sure to check out that thread.
