Me and a pal got a cassette sampler/EP of theirs when we were at school in the early 90's - think it came from Kerrang! possibly? Anyway, that was long lost, but I did manage to find a couple tracks that were on it online a few years back; "Great Place" (Transfusion) and "Do I Need This" (Antiseptic) which are still in my iTunes library!
Shall have to see if I can find a copy of Transfusion data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Well, APS album Free Pawn came up in a Napster search and it ain't bad. Disappointed Transfusion wasn't up there, but a listen through this album reminded me they could write a good tune. Hey guys,
I was a big AP&S fan in the day and have recently got to know Paul Miro who is a top bloke. I have organised an acoustic gig for him down in London back in June, which was great, amd he played songs like Great Place and Come Around The World With Me from Transfusion, just him and an acoustic guitar.
Paul now regularly guests on my podcast
You should also check his website paulmiro.com as he recently released some more acoustic solo albums, which, although different to the AP&S stuff, are still great albums.
And the best news I can offer on AP&S is that the rights to their second album "Snapshot" has just been bought by The End Records for a possible re-release in 2012
Good to see there still AP&S fans out there! Hi apes pigs and spacemens vocalist Paul Miro still tours as AP&S as an acoustic set. Checkout Paul Miro.com, he's a good friend of mine, lives in Derby and has a webpage called miromart where you can buy all the old stuff and his new stuff, which is excellent. He regularly does acoustic sets at th flowerpot in Derby and general gigs all over. Never heard of them. What did they do? They did lots of stuff through early 90's made it big, did MTV etc, went through a big law suit with their record label and management, basically ripped off, there is a lot of stuff on you tube. Check out transfusion, and the video to "do I need this" on you tube! Personally my favourite. Recently paul Miro has done a solo album "simombre" his last album "sometimes you get, sometimes you get got" brilliant! He did an album with Mick Doyle of "never land" called blood simple. Worth a listen. Will do. I'm always amazed at how some things manage to slip through the net. Even if it turns out not to be my kind of thing, at least I'll have had a try. Just remembered I saw AP&S supporting The Wildhearts I think back in 95 (along with 3 Colours Red I believe). Still think "Do I Need This" is a fantastic track. I've currently got ap&s transfusion on loop since reading/being reminded of them in this thread. belting album with some corkers.
