Pro Audio / AV Distributors

Hi All,

I am new to the UK.. Moved here in 2016.Does anyone have a comprehensive list of Pro Audio / AV distributors (not re-sellers/retailers).Looking for the names of companies that are the OFFICIAL distributors of products/brands (QSC, Shure, Focusrite, Soundcraft, Midas, Crown, MC2, DBX, EV, Robe, Martin, Audac, Bosch, Community, Beyer Dynamic, etc. etc.)..If that makes any sense?

Am looking at starting my own AV company (re-selling, hire, installations).. And obviously I do not want to pay Retail/List prices from PMT, GAK, etc.

Would appreciate some help in this regard.

I don't mean to be rude but....

I have been in business for over 25 years, and you need to be pro-active, imaginative and to succeed you need to let nothing stand in the way of what you want to achieve.

It took me less than ten seconds using the web to discover who the Soundcraft distributor for the UK was.... (and many other brands, too.)

If you have waited for 10 days for someone else to answer this question for you, and you are not yet able to discover these things on your own, then I really caution you to consider whether you are ready for the roller coaster that is running your own business.

Starting a business that you are not ready for can financially ruin you - if not for life, then for many, many years.

Do not be at all surprised if some brands have no interest in appointing you as dealer. It will often depend on whether they already have representation in your geographic are, you may need to meet certain criteria - do you have commercial premises - they may even require a significant investment in demo equipment and stock to show a certain level of commitment.

The last thing that may distributors will want to do is annoy some of their existing partners with whom they already do significant volumes of business.

Perhaps it might be an idea to work for a company in this market segment for a year or two to build up experience (and even more importantly )contacts in this market segment.

I certainly don't mean to discourage you, and wish you the best in whatever you decide to do, but it's a hard world out there and unforgiving of those who stumble.

Thanks for your response.I have actually done quite a bit of searching and hunting and what I did find was that alot of the contacts were preferred resellers and not distributors.I am very familiar with the inustry (specifically back home in South Africa), I have my own company there.It seemed alot easier to find the distributors there than here in the UK. I've already found some distributors...so it's not a question of being lazy or anything like that. Just figured if anyone had a comprehensive list, it would save me time.
