Y The Last Man
There has been plenty of people bigging up the Walking Dead graphic novels, including myself, but I just wanted to give some props to Y The Last Man as well.I just finished number 5 and that puts me half way through the 10 graphic novel series, and it's very good - much like TWD, characters are not as safe as you think they may be, and the story and art are very good indeed.
So, although it is post apocolyptic in the same way TWD is, it's also a damm engrossing story.
For those that don't have any of the graphic novels, take a look at the stunning hardback copies, they work out the same price as the paperbacks and look nicer. Amazon does not have many of these gns in stock which is a shame, so I ebayed a few and Forbidden Planet supplied the rest.
Gets my thumbs up. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Purely based on the first volume I would have to agree with your comments. Y is certainly an interesting idea and it will be interesting to see how it is resolved (or not) over the course of the series. I will definitely be getting more volumes but...and this is a big but....I am so far behind on all of the other excellent GN's (The Boys, DMZ, Walking Dead) that it may be a while before I get v2 and beyond. Why are you people doing this to me - or more accurately, my bank balance? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 If you have the iPhone or iPad, I am sure the first edition of Y The Last Man is availiable for free through Comixology as well.
@Newman: You wont be dissapointed mate, it really is a cracking read, and will allow you to wean yourself off the zombies, or at least have another epic story to read while you wait for new TWD graphic novels. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I received the fourth hardback last week and once I've finished what I'm reading now I'll be starting on that as it is a very good series. I'll go back. I have them all ready to go but as I stated in the other thread: post apocalyptic overload for me. Excellent opening volume that just draws you in. Definitely worth of a place in anyones collections. Another thumbs up here data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7. I've got the full collection - it's a cracking read, definitely in my top 10. Now that sounds like a subject that requires a thread of its own mate data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 A definitive Top 10? Hmmmm..... that would require some long, thoughtful consideration... Get cracking then mate! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
