And Harry Potter I bought for myself @) Not specifically - I'd say that they are adult books that can be read by older children.
Of course the series does include the young adult books - Tiffany Aching series and Maurice - I have read all of those and enjoyed them very much.
Cheers,
Nigel I've recently reread the Dark Is Rising books by Susan Cooper and still found those very enjoyable, the first one especially.
I read them a few times as a kid though so maybe a bit biased with the good memoriesdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Rather a simplistic view, but I'm inclined to suggest there is no divide, other than one imposed by library classification.Obviously there are books with "adult" content, but to be blunt, I'm sure we've all read "adult" books that read as if they were written by a child. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Anything by Garth Nix
The Keys to the Kingdom series is aimed at younger readers but I thought it was enjoyable, and the Abhorsen series is aimed at an older audience and I thought they were great. I have read, Harry Potter.
His Dark Materials (although how many kids engaged with that last book of the trilogy i don't know, i found it heavy going)
The Hobbit.
Artemis Fowl
My missus is nagging me about Percy Jackson, so i will give that a go but only because i want her to read The Song of Ice and Fire series, just so i can wactch her jaw drop when she gets to the Red Wedding.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Try stuff by Michael Morpurgo - War Horse is very good but I found Private Peaceful a very emotional read.
Also, Rosemary Sutcliffe wrote the book that the film The Eagle was based on - aimed at children but is a very good read. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, Eragon, His Dark Materials, The Twilight Saga, Darren Shan books and Goosebumps (I know it's old but I love them nonetheless)... The Redwall books by Brian Jacques are really good especially if are going to read them to your kids.
The Twilight books are much better than the movies so also worth a go. Clive Barker's Thief Of Always and his Abarat series.
