Im ashamed to say ireading my sons books, the Demonata series by Darren Shan. Although they are "kids" books im really enjoying them, ive just started no 4, "Bek", i think they are very well written.

It covers all aspects of politics and human life (and death). An inspiring read.
Currently reading Nation by Terry Pratchett and am also re-reading the Bad Birdwatcher's Companion by Simon Barnes. Nation is very different in feel to Terry's other books, much more a serious novel but clearly a Pratchett in style and detailing. Very well written, I think.
Halfway through the third book (The Amber Spyglass), in Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy.

Just finished Michael Crichton's "Next", about genectics, funniest book i've read in a long time.The talking ape called Dave, and the fluently conversational parrot called Gerald are hysterical.Great book.
Not sure what to read next.Might try and get into the Iain M Banks stuff again.
Just finishing Scott Turow's 'Ordinary Heroes' second time around.I've had Thomas Keneally's 'Searching for Schindler' for Xmas, so I'll be starting that.I read Schindler's Ark some years ago - one of the most powerful and moving books I've ever read.I was luck enough to read it before Speilberg made the film, so the impact wasn't watered down by seeing it.
