Hard kindle case
Firstly hello everyone, Don't I feel foolish. All this time I've been a member here & didn't even realise this site had a book forum. Only found it when I googled kindle data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Anyway I'm looking for a hard case for my daughters kindle. Last night she leaned on it & ruined the screen. Called amazon this morning & they are very kindly sending her out a new one free of charge, but in order to prevent this happening again can any one recommend a case tough enough to handle being thrown in her bag, kicked under her bed, fallen asleep on & occasionally sat on by the dog.
Thanks in advance. Welcome to the book section! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Which Kindle is it? I have a keyboard version, and I use the official Kindle case. This has a sturdy front and back, and has suffered 6 months of being thrown in and out of my bag on the way to and from work and the occasional drop. It still looks the same as the day I got it.
Prior to that I had a cheap one from eBay, and that in the same 6 month period wore away at the corners, and looked dog earred from the exact same usage. I just received the Kindle case for my birthday this week - I have the non-keyboard version. The case is pretty damned tough, though the built in light is a bit pants in terms of "quality feel" but works really well.
It protects the edges of the Kindle with a rubber bumper too - better than the Jiffy bag I had been using up to now data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 jiffy bag! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Yeah I wasn't meant to use it for more than a week or two, but er ... that was back in January data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 There's a thread here:

If I understand it correctly the official kindle case with light gets its power from the prongs inserted in the side of the case?
The official case without light mounts in the same way but the prongs are powder coated, which is important as on this case it's a single continuous piece of metal and if the coating wears off it shorts out the kindle... //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gif
