RIP Tom Sharpe
One of the funniest writers it has been my pleasure to read.My dad lent me his copies of the Wilt series when I was around 15 and I dont think I've read anything as funny since. He was one of the few writers who could actually make me laugh out loud - always embarrassing on the train !
One of my favourites of his was the Great Pursuit - a typical farce and brilliantly written
The world is a slightly sadder place now that he has gone
RIP
Edit: I know we have a recently departed section but this would be a great place to discuss his work In fact, I'm off the The Kindle Library to download a few of his books now Never read any of his work, but my mates Dad had loads of his books.
data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 He is well worth a read. Though some of his earlier stuff will probably have dated a little the humour is still there The funniest writer I have ever read. As mentioned by OP, laugh out load, some classic lines and makes your brain hurt with images of crazy funny stuff.
Must have read Wilt at least 20 times, may actually download all his stuff now and re-read all his books. Great to see someone else appreciate Tom Sharpes writing !
I'm doing the same on the downloads data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
If anyone likes a good laugh I'd heartily recommend reading some of his books. Wilt is a great place to start I can't seem to find any of his works around our area. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Amazon is probably your best bet Just started Blott on the Landscape for about the 10th time, so so politically incorrect, reminds me of the 70's. Funny as **** though. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I don't think they have an Amazon in his area data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Although I think he can order books from Amazon US.
