Sci fi/space opera recommendations
I almost exclusively read/listen to sci fi books with Alastair Reynolds being my favourite author. I've done his back catalogue and done the classic Asimov/Clarke novels. Also enjoyed Peter f Hamilton's commonwealth saga and whilst I would like to try some of his others there seems to be a bit of a "medieval" twist in some of them that's not my thing
Done Iain banks too, enjoyed all the culture novels
So based on my choices where do I go next? The Expanse books by James S. A. Corey are pretty good.
Leviathan Wakes: Book 1 of the Expanse eBook: James S. A. Corey: Amazon.co.uk: Books Heard of them and has tempted me, also looking at the red mars series by Kim Stanley Robinson? Haven't read them myself but the reviews would suggest they're good. Try Columbus Day by Craig Alanson
Really good, and if you go audio book the narration is excellent. Thanks, pretty much only audiobook now so needs a good narrator, will take a look Neal Asher has written some very enjoyable books but unfortunately it doesn't look like any of them have been given the audiobook treatment. The spatterjay books are all on audible and all very good...very weird though I must have missed the show other formats button on that one...
The Skinner was the first Neal Asher book that I read and I loved its weirdness. Kind of like a strange sci-fi horror set on the high seas. Highly recommend the Hyperion/Endymion sagas too. Si-fi with some horror elements.
