Tenerife car hire
Going in November and possibly going to hire a car from the airport.Cicar, Topcar and AutoReisen keep getting mentioned on searches, has anyone had any experience with any of these companies?
Many thanks. Ive used Autoreisen several times. In fact booked them for this summer holiday. I use Autoreisen all the time there. Not new cars but you don't want a new car on the island with the way people driveand park them.So they will come with a few dings and scrapes but that doesn't matter. No nasty surprises to your credit card when returning the vehicle either unlike some other car rental companies operating there.. One thing worth checking though is that the air con is working, often they need to be regassed. Many thanks both, after reading tripadvisor for agesdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I've gone for CICAR. Will pick up from the airport but they have a local office near our stay. I have a second home in Tenerife so if there is anything you want an opinion on or advise, just shout and I might be able to assist Many thanks Seal420, we're going to Los Gigantes.
Haven't been to Tenerife since 2002 and never to Los Gigantes, just me and the wife, the very grown-up children will be left at home this time.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 The good news is the TF1 motorway has now been completed so it’s only about 40 minutes from the airport. Not really motorway on the last stretch because it has suicidal third lane or chicken lane. My house is in Adeje so not sure any eating establishments I can recommend. If you like driving, I do and have a car there, a trip over to Masca is something of an interesting drive! One thing I always tell people is to be very careful with valuables, money, cards, passports.Tenerife is no better or worse than other holiday resorts but it is popular with Eastern European’s who see rich, easy pickings. They are even active at the airport. Avoid long-lost ‘friends’, hugs, visible phones, wallets and over shoulder handbags.
Siam Park is well worth a visit no matter what age you might be. But I’m sure you’ll have done your holiday recce. One question Seal420, as well as my driving license with me do I have to carry my passport every time I drive?
Our first holiday there was in Adeje, Royal Sunset Beach Club, loved it, straight out of the apartment into the pool, short stroll to the bars and beach. Costa del Silencio not so good. I believe no. I drive everyday when I’m there but never take my license or passport.I know I should carry it but would prefer to deal with the police than have the hassle of losing it or having it stolen.I have a convertible and always park it with the roof up but it’s never going to be that secure. Police are very understanding/sympathetic to tourists and they instantly recognise hire cars. Mind you there are four different police forces on the island! Any stops or checks are carried out by the national police or civil guard.
