Bali
I'm planning my next trip in Feb next year. I'm planning on visiting Bali for a few days. Does anyone have advice on hotels and things to do? I went there a few years back. I always pictured Bali as one of those scenic islands surrounded by beautiful white sand in the middle of a turquoise ocean, with palm trees hanging along the shoreline. And it is. However, I stayed in Seminyak which is in Denpasar on the South side of the island. It was built up and busy and the beaches weren't what you see on postcards (granted I didn't visit every beach around there). It was nice enough, cheap and we did have to watch out for Bali Belly. But if I ever returned there, I'd head for the northern side of the island and those quieter beaches. It does depend on what you're looking for. It's very hot and humid between Oct-March as the tropical monsoons gather during the summer months.
I always compare it to Thailand and for me Thailand trumps Bali. Yet, it is still worthy of a visit and like I said, really cheap.
Enjoy. Thanks, I've been to Thailand 4 times in the Last 20 months or so, so I will give it a miss this time. I would prefer the quieter side as its just to relax and unwind for 4 or 5 days. I will start of in Ho Chi Minh City, then Bali then on to somewhere else (I have not decided where yet) before heading home. when I was in Bali (2016) I just used hostel world.com (good app as well when travelling ) and then give it a quick review on TripAdvisor before booking.
