Lease car insurance - driving other cars
HiHas any one had their ‘driving other cars’ extension removed from their insurance when insuring a lease car? I’ve had good quotes from the admiral companies ( elephant , diamond etc ) but they say they don’t cover driving other cars if the car you are insuring ison a lease.
Is it a common thing among insurers? I’ll prob have to pay extra and go to a company that do include it as I need it in case of emergency’s. Admiral group introduced this clause a couple years back. We have a multicar policy with them but my partner can only drive our cars as shes the policy holder on the leased car. Admiral tend to be a bit of a rule to themselves - they are almost the only insurers that ask for factory fit optional extras whereas almost everyone else only wants to know about post manufacture mods; one of the few that want to know about glass claims etc. That said, other than the last year of having our car (PCP rather than lease) they were always very cheap and knocked ~20% off at renewal each year if you just claimed to have seen cheaper elsewhere. Don’t understand the logic in removing it for lease cars but keeping it for private cars.. oh well it’s going to cost me £300 more but I’ll have to go else where Simply trying to reduce costs, I've been with Admiral or Elephant for the past 13 years as they've always been the cheapest. More and more insurance companies are removing the third party cover so its no longer assumed you have it on a fully comp policy.
