Having thought about my earlier comments, now I've gone electric, I don't think I'd want to go back to an auto data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Didn’t see some of these posts got mine back and it was lovely to be back on manual...... I would like a 2 litre engine next car change though haha but hey the 1.5 does do the job........ They fitted a new Engine Stabiliser Mount aswell which has cured a slight judder on moving off in first and going into 2nd gears

Next time I change cars I might try an auto for the contract term see how do I feel using one for an extended term....... might even rent one for a week instead

It's all right for you - your car hasn't even got a gearbox data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I recently test drove a Fiat 500x with a 9 speed auto box! I didn't see it go above 7th gear though.

My wife complained when I first switched to an automatic car, so I got her a mangle and a washboard data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Mercedes have a 10 speed.

The 8 speed box in BMW is lovely.

Yes, i drove a M3 with a 7 speed DCT and even at over 100mph i was still in 4th data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

But for people with a 6 speed auto in a BMW you can have it remapped for faster changes using xHp and an Android tablet / phone.

Very pleasant. With a heavy van and a gradient driving a manual, you know you're going to have to change down at some point, but judging the optimum time to do it can get a bit stressful. The auto box decides for you data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Oh, and of course hill starts are a doddle.
