I suspected that it is too small to be an issue, I’ve had many like it before without problems but they have all been on company cars so I didn’t care that much.

Wait until you have 5 then replace the screen. They won’t repair 5 or more chips on the same screen.
Usually if it is you line of site.. they will try & repair it, but could fail an MOT... If it isn't, get it repaired to stop the windscreen getting cracked.. then you would have to replace the windscreen..

I have one at the moment and when you try to do the claim through the website and answer the questions they ask you how big the damage is before you even get to which area of the screen.
"Smaller than a match-head (3mm)"I select that option and it hits me with this...
You probably don't need a repair
Because the chip is very small, it will only affect the surface of the glass, not the deeper structure which keeps your windscreen strong. This means the damage won't spread, even during bad weather or bumpy journeys.
That's because it has to be more than 10mm wide (in the field of view) before the MOT tester is interested.
