Thanks. Get yourself into the Detailing Thread data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 And be prepared for a lot of work, Black is a pain in the backside. And you need to prepare really well as otherwise the wax will just protect the marks data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Not the best thing for a lazy so and so.
I would just pay the local hand car wash data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 You could use a wax that has fillers in it or use a ‘glaze’ then wax on top. This will mask the lighter marks.
As said though, Black is a pain especially if the paint is soft. My RS2000 is black and it was really hard trying to keep it looking good when I had it on the road. At least these days I have better tools to help maintain it, but we specifically avoided a Black SLK for my wife as I know how hard they are to look after well. I would start with a clay bar first.
Wash your car, dry it then clay bar it.
Then wax. Eh? Dry? Nope, you want plenty of lube otherwise the claybar will trash your paint. And you’ll need a machine polish to correct the problems. I wasn't suggesting that he clay bar his car dry.
I was suggesting that after washing it and drying it he then clay bars it.
To clay bar a car you need it clean and yes you need a clay bar lube otherwise it wont slide and can mark your paintwork. However some clay bars only need water as lube like bilt hamber ones.
To the OP, please look up how to clay bar your car if you are not familiar with the process.
If you clay bar then wax you car you will find it not only stays cleaner for longer as crap doesnt stick to it but its also easier to wash/clean. Its well worth doing. Use plumbers putty. Cheaper than a clay bar and does job just as well
