Motorcycle - Separate Helmet and Leathers Insurance

Looking to get better cover for my helmet and clothing while on the bike - while my current policy on either of my bikes says they cover "helmet and leathers" it barely would cover my boots and gloves, one is covering up to £500 the other £750 (but will cover £1000 with a small increase in premium) but neither would even come close to covering even my jacket in the event of a spill.

Has anyone who is riding around in semi decent gear got a separate cover? I can't find any offering an amount over £1000 at the main places like Carol Nash, Bennets, MCD etc.

Adding it up, I would probably be nearer £2000 or £2500 that I wear most days, especially in winter when the Gore-tex comes out.

Seems a bit odd that no one seems to offer it when you start getting into an Arai or Schuberth high end helmet you are well over £500 on that alone let alone a full leather suit.

Have you tried Cornmarket (IAM Surety)? I've been insured with them for a couple of years and they seem to offer better cover than most (although you may well need to be an IAM member).

I haven't got my policy docs with me so I cant quote you their levels of cover for gear. It may be something you have to specifically negotiate if you are wearing items that cost more than some people spend on bikes alone data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7! (Not knocking it BTW, I know full well how it can all easily add up....).

I am an IAM member. Only associate level though at the mo. I have heard that I may be able to cover it under my home insurance this morning which will be good as the premium would probably be less that way
