What about unplugging and then plugging back? I've done that and it's been fine.

It's the same battery so I assume the same battery code still applies. It's probably worth checking whether your BMW has battery coding, not all of them do.

Fair point.
How long do they last anyway? My 320d is 6 years old on the original battery.

Karma12's is an early 2011, so 8 years at least? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Although based on all vehicles I've owned 10 years isn't unreasonable.

The battery in my late 2011 car is still original as well. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
